Height is the specification that decides whether a low table works, and it is the one most listings omit. As a rule, a coffee table works best level with the sofa cushion or a little below it. Measure your sofa seat height first, then compare.
Where a top is a veneer over engineered board rather than solid timber, the listing says so. Engineered board is a legitimate material with real advantages in stability; describing it as solid wood is the problem, not using it.
