Choosing bedroom furniture

Bedroom furniture is bought roughly once a decade and used every night, which makes it the category where reading the specification carefully pays off most. Two numbers matter on a bed: the internal size, which your mattress must match, and the external footprint, which your room must accommodate. They are not the same and a frame described only by "king" or "queen" tells you neither, because mattress sizing in Pakistan is not standardised. Measure the mattress you intend to keep before ordering.

Wardrobes should be judged on three things. First, what the carcass is made of as distinct from what the doors are made of — a solid-wood door on an engineered-board carcass is common and perfectly reasonable, but it should be stated rather than implied. Second, how much hanging rail you actually get, which is a smaller number than the cabinet width once the shelf stack is accounted for. Third, whether the largest single component will physically reach the bedroom: measure your narrowest turn and compare it against the panel sizes in the listing.

For chests and bedside tables, the useful figure is the internal drawer depth rather than the outside dimension, and the height of a bedside unit relative to your mattress top. Both appear in the specification table where the maker has supplied them.
