What to check before ordering

A fitted scheme uses the awkward parts of a small room — the space over a stair bulkhead, the depth beside a chimney breast — that loose furniture cannot reach. It is measured on site and built to those measurements.

Because it is built in, plan it around how the room will be used in five years rather than today. A desk at the right height for a seven-year-old is the wrong height for a twelve-year-old, so adjustable or generous is usually the better call.
