Made to order
Custom Furniture in Islamabad
Furniture made to the size, fabric, colour and finish your room actually needs — with viewing and delivery arranged across the city.
Islamabad is an unusually easy city to make furniture for and an unusually hard one to buy furniture for off a shelf. The housing stock is not uniform: a 1970s government-built house in G-6 and a new build in DHA Phase II have almost nothing in common in ceiling height, room proportion or doorway width, and neither of them matches an apartment in a Gulberg or Bahria block. A sofa sized for a showroom floor fits none of them particularly well.
That is the whole case for ordering to size rather than buying to stock. You give up nothing on design — the catalogue is the starting point either way — and you get a piece whose seat width, depth and overall footprint were decided against your wall rather than against an average one.
What is settled before anything is made: the dimensions, the fabric or upholstery, the colour, the material and the finish. What is confirmed with your quotation: the final price, the lead time and the delivery arrangement to your address.

The process
How a custom order works
Start from a design or your own idea
Send a design from the catalogue, a photograph of something you have seen, or a description of the piece you need. A sketch on a phone is enough to begin.
Give us the space, not just the piece
The wall run, the ceiling height, the doorway and the route in decide more than the design does. Approximate numbers are fine to start; exact ones are taken before anything is made.
Choose the options
Size, fabric or upholstery, colour, material and finish are all settled before production, along with anything handed — which wall the long run of an L-shape goes against, which side a wardrobe opens.
Receive a written quotation
The specification, the price and the delivery arrangement come back to you in writing. Nothing is ordered, and nothing is charged, until you have that and have agreed to it.
Production and delivery
Once confirmed, the piece is made to the agreed specification and delivered by arrangement. The lead time is part of the quotation rather than a number published in advance.
Seeing the furniture before you order
Fabric, leather grade and timber finish are the three things a screen will not settle for you. Colour on a monitor is never exact, and upholstery batches move between deliveries, so the finishes worth deciding in person are worth a trip.
Selected designs can be seen through a partner showroom at Soan Garden Markaz, near UBL. It is a partner store rather than a SaazWood-branded one, so what is on the floor changes week to week — message before travelling and we will confirm whether the specific design you have shortlisted can be seen at the moment.
If a visit is not practical, ask for current photographs or a short video of the fabric and finish under normal light rather than showroom light. It is a fair substitute for a swatch and it costs nothing to ask for.

Delivery and access in Islamabad
The sector grid makes the city itself straightforward — wide approach roads, service lanes behind most markazes, and few streets a delivery vehicle genuinely cannot reach. The difficulty is almost never the drive. It is the last ten metres.
The recurring problem in the older lettered sectors is the internal staircase. Houses in F and G sectors frequently have a half-landing with a tight turn, and a three-seater or a rigid L-shape section that clears the front door will not always clear that turn. Where it does not, the options are a knock-down frame, a piece split into sections, or a different depth — all of which have to be decided before production, not on delivery day.
In apartment blocks in Gulberg, Bahria Enclave and the DHA phases, the lift is the constraint. What matters is the internal car depth and the door height, not the floor number. Both take a tape measure and thirty seconds, and knowing them in advance is the difference between a delivery and a return.
Delivery cost and timing depend on the piece, the destination and the access at your address, so they are confirmed with your quotation rather than published here as a single figure.
What to measure before you order
- Measure the wall run the piece will sit against, then take at least 15 cm off each end. A sofa that technically fits looks wedged in, and the eye reads the gap before it reads the design.
- Measure the route in, not just the room: street gate, front door, the tightest turn on the stairs, and the lift car if there is one. The narrowest point on that route is the real maximum dimension.
- Ceiling height decides more than people expect in the newer builds. It sets whether a wardrobe can run full height, and whether a bunk bed leaves a child enough head clearance to sit up in the top bunk.
- For anything handed — an L-shape sofa, a corner unit, a wardrobe with a single opening door — decide which way round it goes before you order. Handing cannot be changed after the piece is built.
Designs to start from
Every design in the catalogue can be made to a different size, fabric, colour, material or finish. Pick one as a starting point, or send your own idea.
Questions
Questions from customers in Islamabad
- Do you make furniture to my own design in Islamabad?
- Yes. You can start from a design in the catalogue and change the size, fabric, colour, material and finish, or send a photograph or sketch of something else entirely. Either way the specification is agreed in writing and quoted before anything is made.
- Can I see the fabric and finish before ordering?
- Selected designs can be viewed through our partner showroom at Soan Garden Markaz, near UBL. Message us first with the design you are interested in so we can confirm it is currently on the floor, because a partner showroom is not stocked to our schedule.
- Which parts of Islamabad do you deliver to?
- Delivery is arranged across the city. Send your sector or society along with the product you want and we will confirm what it will cost and roughly how long it will take, before you commit to anything.
- What do you need from me to quote a custom piece?
- The design or a description of it, the space it is going into, your area, the floor it is going to and whether there is a lift. Access is the single thing that most often turns a straightforward delivery into a difficult one, so it is worth mentioning early.
- How long does a custom order take?
- It depends on the piece and the specification, so the lead time is confirmed with your quotation rather than published as a general figure. A quoted timeframe you have agreed to is worth more than an advertised one nobody is held to.
- Is there a showroom I can walk into without messaging first?
- You can, but the floor at a partner showroom changes and the design you travelled for may not be on it. One message before you leave saves the journey being wasted.
